Hey admin
My boyfriend broke with me bcz his father has changed his mind by telling that if a hindu and christian get married it will be a curse to future generations? Does it really happens? I am even ready to convert. He is a protestant. We are sincerely in love with eath other for 5 years and he decided to be a bachelor because he can’t marry me. We still love each other due to his father words and the writings in bible he is stepping back because of our relation to be made why to suffer future generation and telling that his father showed him the examples. I cant miss him and i want to marry him. He’s not even responding to me properly.

    Dear kishtika
It’s ok to be in love with someone who doesn’t belong to your religion…. But converting yourself? I don’t think religion matters if you love someone…love is the religion… And the boy who claims that he loves you… He’s following the Bible strictly and he’s taking a step back from you…you should think and realize what you are doing…will you be able to forget all the preachings that your parents gave you?…and just think that how badly your parents are going to get hurt …

Great point, Pratishriya. Why to fake-convert? Why there is a need for conversion if the love is true? It is sin to dump bf/gf just because he/she does not convert. We would ask Kishtika, would you still covert even the boy decides not to marry you for what ever reason? If you don’t have faith, why to fake it? Why to make lies and deception a foundation of married life?

    Ask them! And tell them”
What is the proof about existence. And one more thing is that the books only teach us how to lead in humanity and all those things that say about punishment are just to fear for if you do something wrong. Tell them that you are ready to face God’s punishment. Love and peace is the only religion anything else would lead in chaos.
    Good luck.

    Dear Kishtika,
I am at present dating a guy who is a Protestant too. As far as my religious affinity is concerned, I don’t believe in God. I’m not denying his/her existence, but I choose to not believe in some supernatural being who can never have a direct effect in my life. I have already broken up with my present boyfriend once, for the same reason you have mentioned. His people tried to get me to convert, because apparently that’s how they deal with such cases. And that is the only idea of inclusivity they have. I am not condemning their way of life, but it is how they have been socialized so nobody can’t question that.
My boyfriend too couldn’t stand up for me or the relationship, and trust me he really did want to but who is going to suffer from a life long of ostracization right?
His parents are never gonna get over taking the Bible literally and you my dear are going to have to deal with too many instances where you will feel nothing but helplessness.
The conversion is totally your choice, but it seems like you are opting for that because it looks like the only way you both could be together. I would also suggest you take your time and get a total hang of their way of life before you commit to converting.
The possibility of this working is extremely difficult, unless you both can come to common ground without the influence or pressure of any other parties. (Provided it stays like that for the rest of your lives too)
A friend of mine told me “Don’t hang in there too long, don’t give up too soon”. The choice is yours honey. Just choose well.

      Sharon,
What is your (or your parents) birth faith?
You gave this excellent advise “I would also suggest you take your time and get a total hang of their way of life before you commit to converting”, true don’t fake-convert.

Catholic by birth. Mom’s a Hindu convert, out of her choice. I think I have it a little easier because my parents have made it a point to expose me to all different Faith’s.

As I’ve read and watched on videos, Jesus was a messenger of God and we can’t see the god.. We can also infer from that message that only God is to be worshipped, not any demon or anyone who doesn’t take human towards the ‘good’ path.

      Hi Vidhi,

Are not all religions teach the same “God is to be worshipped”? Do you know any religion who does “not any demon or anyone who doesn’t take human towards the ‘good’ path”? Yes, we cannot see God. Christianity and Hinduism solved this problem by presenting God in human forms, while Islam forbids such practice. Is one religion’s practice right over others? What are your views?

    Dear Kishtika,
The worst part in your message is your boy friend is so weak minded and gullible to believe anything someone says. Why he is not using his head? Does he really believe that praying to Goddess Laxmi is sin but not believing Mother Mary as holy? Does he really believe that Hindus (including Mahatma Gandhiji and your parents) are sinners destined to hell?

On your question, “a curse to future generations?…Does it really happens?” The answer is YES and NO. No if you are a rational minded. Yes, if you believe the Bible is literally exact words of God [the Second Commandment: You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image – any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who reject Me.” (Exodus 20:3-5)]. So you decide.

On “I am even ready to convert.” are you willing to be a Christian because you have faith in Christianity and the Bible or just a fake-conversion to please in-laws? Are you ready to teach your children the Second Commandment as God’s wishes?

      Thank you admin,
I don’t understand how to change his mind we both are suffering for his descion . Many times his parents warned him but he took it for granted but this time he couldn’t take it and ended with me . Does that make sense? Or that is the only solution . I don’t want to loose him i am trying to convince but he is not listening and also tells that don’t put hopes on me how can’t I? Even his mother is a hindu and thats why his father dont want another hindu in his family . How should i convince him ?

        Dear Kishtika,

We feel sorry for the condition you are put into, especially after spending so many years with him. It is too sad that so called open-minded people are actually religious fanatics. Have you ever talk to his mother? Go talk to her; it is possible she may support your boy friend and try to convince her husband. What is wrong the Christian husband found with a Hindu wife and after so many years?

Is your bf working and financially independent? If yes, one day he may decide to take control of his life and do that he wishes to do; we hope. However, don’t waste too many years after this guy if he cannot think for himself.
