Can you please explain a little more on the overseas muslim marriage certificate? Where did this come from and how did you go about getting it?
I am a Christian Malaysian with a muslim boyfriend. He is half English so his family is not religious at all, however he is still a Malaysian citizen. His Englisj father never obtained Malaysian citizenship, but he did convert to Islam in Malaysia to marry his mother.
Do you have any advice on how to get married without me converting? Could we also get married in Singapore and obtain the muslim overseas marriage license without me having to officially convert on IC?
If all fails he can still try to give up his Malaysian citizenship on the grounds that his father is British, however we intend to remain in Malaysi if possible without him giving up citizenship.

Hi Eliza,
I am in a similar situation, my partner is a British Muslim and I’m a Malaysian Christian female. We married in Britain, settling down here and we have a nikah certificate. I haven’t come around to announcing our marriage at the High Comm as I’m scared they will make me change my name. I’m wandering if they will just accept the nikah cert and make our registration easier? Let me know if you’ve found a solution I am eager to solve this.
Thanks and good luck!

ONE MASSAGE TO SELF DECLARED MODERATE,EDUCATED,LIBERAL THINKING MUSLIMS SISTERS
if virginity doest not matter then why ALLAH_BHAGWAN_GOD has given hymen, that means he wants something to test also marry was virgin mother and all ABRAHAMIC followers(girls) must try to be as MARRY b4 marriage to get closer to Marry and GOD_ALLAH_BHAGWAN.
AND BY LOSING VIRGINITY YOU SAY THAT YOU ARE EDUCATED, MY QUESTION IS DO ANYONE NEED TO SHOW THE “I AM NOT VIRGIN” CERTIFICATE TO DECLARE HERSELF AS EDUCATED, I WANT TO KNOW WHETHER COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES REQUIRES OR IS IT COMPULSARY TO SHOW ” I M NOT VIRGIN” CERTIFICATE TO GET ADMITTED. DO NASA RECRUIT SCIENTIST ON THE BASIS OF VIRGINITY. BY LOSING VIRGINITY CAN YOU INCREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF MARKS ON YOUR MARKSHEET, IF NOT THEN WHY YOU DECLARE THAT I M MORE EDUCATED, IF KURAN IS FALSE THEN FEMALE ARE ALSO FALSE, AND THOSE ADULTERIOUS NON-VIRGIN MUSLIM(PSEUDO-MUSLIMS) WHO SAY KURAN IS FALSE THEN I HAVE WONDERFUL ANSWER FOR YOU.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The purpose of Nikah is to safeguard one’s chastity and attain peace and comfort through it. While performing the Nikah is a noble act, one has to be conscious of many issues related to it.
The parameters of Shari’āh are quite different to those of other religions. Islām strives to maintain and promote a high level of compliancy to its regulations, hence, blocking out any such avenues that may lead to harming ones Īmān (faith) or even causing it to wane. As such, Islām advocates that one socialises and interacts with those who are Muslims themselves.
One’s family and friends tend to greatly influence his/her habits, thinking, traits and actions. Therefore, Islām advocates that the institution of marriage be conducted with such a spouse who is chaste and noble, so that he/she may compliment the other in his/her religious activities.
Hence, Shari’ah allows marriage to a Muslim spouse. If need be, one is also allowed to marry a woman who has faith in any of the divine religions such as Christianity and Judaism, [1]although this is not recommended as it may lead to the weakening of one’s faith and affording one’s children an un-Islāmic upbringing. [2]
That is why Hadhrat ‘UmarRadhiyallahu ‘Anhudiscouraged the Muslims from marrying the Ahl-e-Kitaab (people of the book) despite his era being one regarding RasulullahSallallahu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallamhad prophesized goodness. The evil in our times is evident and it is clear how much harm can be caused to one’s Īmān and one’s children by him marrying a woman who is not a Muslim.
In principle, it is permissible for him to marry the woman. However, he should make every possible attempt to invite her towards Islam both verbally and by conducting himself in the best of character according to the teachings of Islam.
And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
Sister muslims hav to respect jesus and his followers otherwise he is not a true muslim,ok it just basic. Now coming to question muslims r allowed to marry from ‘people of the book’ i.e. Jews n christians without converting coz muslim worship same god as christians n jews but follow different messenger, christian follows teachings of jesus(peace be upon him) and muslim follows teachings of mohammad(peace be upon him). I don’t know why ppl convert to marry muslim(for jews&christians only) man, just marry him as christian and sharia law allows that, but if like islam after marriage then u may convert. I advice u to read english version of kur’an and that will bring u n ur lover more closer, believe me kur’an is the latest edition of bible. God Allah bless u!:-)
Thank you for your comment! I have looked into this myself and I am aware that Muslim men are allowed to marry women of the book. However, in Malaysia the Muslims do not appear to agree with this and the marriage will not be legally recognised (which I do not understand why, since it is in the Quran).
