My husband and I were married in a Hindu ceremony. I reared in Christian faith. My husband was schooled in a Catholic school so he was exposed to Christianity. We share both faiths with the leaning towards Hindu. Water is water no matter in which langauge it is called.
Our home is mostly Hindu based. This is a choice for many reasons of both of us. A huge factor is the unbending, close minded Cristian faith wanting to “save” us according to them. The Bible the way they see it. There is no flexibility. Christian behavior needs to be much more of a model. Disdaining and not respecting others view of the divine spirit. Using faith to control and bend others is not spiritual either.
When I reject something which a Christian says it is my husband who tells me I must at least listen. Who God has joined let no man put asunder and this includes a person’s own view of God. Learn, read about other faiths with an open mind. Once you do, you will clearly see. All faiths are of God. ALL are. -Gail R

Dear all ,
I met a Hindu Girl 11 years back in College and we both fell in love and I Convinced my parents to get me married with her and my parents went to the girls house and spoke to the Girls Parents who also agreed.
After this meeting between both parties ,within 1 month the girl called me up and said that her father has problems with the marriage and he wanted me to meet him
Her father said that since he had a younger daughter he wanted me to marry as per Hindu Rites or if not we could commit suicide and he said the stigma of giving his daughter to a Christian boy would be too much-
He proposed that I marry his Daughter as per Hindu rights in his House and after which he said my parents could get it done in the Church as well.
His version was that he wanted to do a Face Saving in Society.
I being too immature and having no understanding of Marriage laws then agreed to it ….since i loved the girl and i felt that anyhow after this face saving affair I could get the marriage done in Church as per my Church rights.
On the day agreed for the marriage I reached their House and without any relatives or friends from my side the so called Marriage was done..
1.The marriage happened in their House and a hindu Priest did it
2.I did not even go to Court and i did not have anyone from my end.
After the function etc …i had the lady with me in Delhi,my Parents got to know about it after 2 months and were very sad …My relatives asked the Girls parents to allow the Girl to be married in Church now since it was done as per their wish in the first place but her father Bluntly Refused to get the Girl married in Church.
I was discarded by society and my relatives as a whole…none knew i was married…and it was then that i realised after the lady started living with me that she was very quarrelsome and soon we were fighting all the time.
After 2 years a child was born and she started staying at her fathers house and refused to stay with me in the state i was working and i was left paying her a monthly amount and soon it started as a blackmail and she asked me to build a house for her there where her parents lived…when i found that the mental and social torture was increasing then i left with no other option left her 2 years back …and i sought the help of lawyers to get me a Divorce but they advised that it was null and void so i cannot take a Divorce..Since the marriage did not take place technically.
I have been imploring her to go for mutual consent BUT she has outrightly refused it saying she wanted compensation and she could do nothing.
I am a Church going Christian with no records in Church as having Married..i did not convert then my question is if i did not convert then how can it be called a Marriage …please do guide me…

Hi All,
I am a catholic by birth and my fore-fathers are also catholic. Last year I met a guy and fell in love with him, however he is a hindu. I have always personally believed that, there is 1 god with different names. My boyfriend also believes in this. He likes christainity a lot and is ready to accept christainity and convert to become a catholic. My parents have also accepted him and they say that it is better that he converts so that later it will be easy for the children as well to follow 1 religion. My mom requested the guy to bring a certificate from his place (Andhra Pradesh) stating that he is ready to become a christain and accept me as his wife. Also to state that he is unmarried. He has brought that certificate with him, but its not from a catholic church. He brought it from a Pentecost church. Me, my parents and my relatives are confused on how to proceed with this marriage. When I guy is ready to accept christainity with his heart, then I don’t understand why its not possible for him. Our marriage is getting delayed due to this. Could anyone please help.
Need help in the below things –
Firstly I want to know what is the procedure to convert a hindu to christain(willingly).
This is the main thing that I need to know as once he gets converted there wont be a problem. As it would be like a christain guy marrying a christain girl.
Could you please let me know how to proceed with it. The guy is even ready for baptism. Thanks.

Dear Gail,
Thank you sharing your experience. We are VERY glad you are following a pluralistic path, however exclusivist Christian (and Muslim) will not comprehend what you are talking about. For them only Jesus saves (Or Islam is only true faith) and is difficult to explain that God is not partial to them only. Please come to guide others for true tolerance for each other.
I would love to be part of what brings true tolerance for each other. If a Christain or Muslim believes fully what they are taught. If they get guidance and comfort from this. I think this is great. I do not feel the need to “convert” anyone.
The head of the United Nations once said “More wars are caused and fought in the name of religion then anything else” Unfortunately this is true and should not be. They truly are not even reading what is in their religious books. Not the full messages.
I once found prayers from many religions. I will post if I can locate it. Basically they all said the same thing. So why fight? I am reading of marriage breakups in the name of faith. Or couples who love each other, not marrying because of faith. This is sad, because God is LOVE.
