Marthoma is not at all a protestant or a pentacostal church it is a oriental Syrian church founded by the Saint Thomas the apostole in ad 52 …Marthoma was in communion with csi cni, thozhiyoor. it will not make marthoma protestent marthoma actually not support beliefs of csi and cni they are anglican, marthoma is more communion with Tozhioor Syrian and accepts and supports there beliefs. Marthoma is apostolic in orgin, not a protestant. Actually marthomites have heritage and support in kerala than catholic church.
Malankara church was divided into 3: marthoma, jacobite, indian orthodox by royal court order. Catholics in kerala was derived from malankara church. -Shonejo

@Anish – Which Bible are you talking about? Under which Authority did your Church leaders removed some of the Books from the Bible? You remove the chapters you don’t like, interpret the scriptures your own way and call it Apostolic faith?! If there is not much difference between the faith of different denominations why was there a need to split/reform?
Reformation happens in all churches including Orthodox and Catholics and those are reformation in attitude towards issues both social and spiritual with respect to the time we live. Reformation doesn’t mean blindly follow the protestant missionaries and sing songs like them.
And please keep your explanation of Logo to yourself. Emblems of all denominations have meaning.
@Shonejo – can you point out the difference between the faith of Marthoma church and CSI(protestant) faith?
Just because the Church is called Marthoma it doesn’t mean it was founded by Saint Thomas. If someone starts a new church called “Yeshu Christhu” tomorrow, it doesn’t mean it was founded by Jesus Christ. Your church is less than 200 years old and Saint Thomas died 2000 years ago. Do the math!
Your church should be called Marthoma Anglican Church and not Syrian. Whats Syrian about you? None of the Apostolic churches around the world share your protestant faith.
If your church was found by St.Thomas, why was there a need for your Bishop to go to Antioch to get ordained? Can any Achan in your church become a bishop if he states that he follows the traditional Orthodox or Catholic faith? If it happens what would you call that Achan?
You are just another protestant church. Don’t be ashamed to be one. You need to do more reformation like your Anglican counterparts – Gay or Women bishops, accept abortions etc… -George.

Marthoma is not an anglican church please have an eye above the history of church please
marthoma use syrian liturgy and uses mooron, doopam and all traditional things but csi wont use that at all csi ordinated a women as priest and then as bishop but marthoma syrian wont .marthoma syrian donot supports the anglican liturgy actually if u read history of marthoma church by yuhanoon marthoma metrapolitian it is clearly printed tha marthoma is spporting csi in its social services not in there belife .
U have noted that marthoma is only 200 years old then indian orthodox and jacobites are only 90 years old why becase jacobite and orthodox where splited by court on 19… but marthoma and jacobite where splited by court in 18.. on that time the malankara metropolitian was with marthoma malankara church was splitted by court there for no new church formed therefor marthoma was founded about 2000 years back.
Malankara marthoma syrian entered into communion with jacobite syrian in 2014 and church has decided to communion with malankara catholic.
The present malankara metropolitian HG Dr joseph marthoma metropolitian was successor of HG Dr philipose mar chrisostom marthoma valiya metrapolitian by royal court order
We wonder how many denominations are there in Islam and do they feel Islam needs reformation?
