About 25 students from R J Tibrewal Commerce College did a survey of about 1,000 man/women between age of 18 and 35.
As per this survey, 50% man and 52% women chose to get married to the person selected by their parents. 60% man and 91% women gave preference to economic prosperity. 42% chose to be married by their Gnati (loosely sub-caste, not sure of the perfect translation). 12% chose to be married in a court in lieu off conventional weddings.
Some men/women accepted to get married later because of reasons related to higher studies, job, professional career, etc. The survey had 40 question to pick a spouse based on certain criteria.

- For choosing a life partner, 80% men and 60% women give preference to studies
- 30% youngsters prefer destination wedding
- 52% women and 28% men believe the duration of engagement should be longer than 1 year
- 60% women believed to live with male spouse’s family during the 1 year of engagement, and 60% men believed to live with female spouses’ family as well.
61% men and women are ready to accept life partner with past relationship, and will not make an issue in current married life.
