SS says: February 9, 2015 at 4:38 am

Jesus on crossHi I am a Hindu girl by birth. Born and brought up in religious Hindu family with kinda modern type of family. Last year got married with Born Again Christian guy. My Question is do i need to convert in the name of mom in law? was that such christian taught. I didn’t know much about Christianity but i do believe Jesus. He is a supreme almighty god. I never disgrace or discriminate any religion and never say that my religion is a true religion but my mom in law does that. Am in a confusing situation coz i don’t believe in converting. I don’t have any problem with my husband. Please do suggest me. Thank you -SS

    Dear SS,
You have raised a great question. We will work with you over a year and will help you find a happy ground for both of you. Fighting, getting upset or making irrational statements is not an answer. Ideally you should respect your mother-in-law and make her happy (then your husband is happy and you will also be happy). But a big question is … how to make her happy and still not convert? The answer is EDUCATION. Are you ready?

Before we start giving you details, tell us:
How did you get married (Hindu, church, both, Special marriage act?)?
Is you husband also asking you to convert? What religion means to him?
Is your mother-in-law lives with you in the same house? Near by? Far?
    Do you work outside home?

          A good point.

        First fixes:
        1) Don’t plan for a baby till all dust settles down. Life will get hell x10 after the baby. With all these religious battle at home, you will not be able to enjoy your baby. This will be injustice to the poor baby.

        2) You appears to be educated and intelligent. House wives, even kills whole day, has no value in certain homes. Further, you will have to face the mother-in-law whole day. Soon you will be admitted to a mental hospital. Go get any type of job outside, even you end up spending 100% in travel, extra maids and baby sitting expenses. Get out of the home!

        3) Discuss religious points openly with your husband. He must be fully understand and respect your feelings.

        4) You have to live with the mother-in-law day in and out. It is like living in water and fighting with crocodiles. You have to be very tactful and shrewd. You have to play Saam, daam, dand and Bhed with her. Ready?

        5) Educate your mother in law: This is a long chapter but lets start small. Ask her why only Christians will go to heaven while all Muslims, Jews and Hindus (including Gandhi) will go to hell? Why it is logical? I am a born Hindu and will die as a Hindu. I will follow all Jesus’ teachings but will not be baptized, not in this life, NEVER. Don’t make a big fuss but get into smart small healthy discussions. Let us know how it goes.
