It is Jewish traditions to have their children Bris and Bar Mitzvah ceremonies. The Bris (circumcision) is a religious ceremony performed on 8th day of childbirth. The Bar- (or Bat- for a girl) Mitzvah is a religious ritual performed at age of 12-13 to announce the child an adult Jew. The child has to commit to follow 613 mitzvoth (commandments) of Torah for his/her life.
Should there be a Bar Mitzvah for children from a Hindu-Jew marriage with equality? Unless the Hindu is fully convinced that his/her children must follow all 613 mitzvoth for their life, the Hindu probably should not commit for it for the following reasons: a) The Bar Mitzvah (just like other BBS; Baptism for Christianity and Sahadah/Sunat for Islam) is not a hollow ritual devoid of meaning, b) why to make lies and deception a foundation of your planned married life if you don’t have any intention to follow it, c) Bar Mitzvah ceremony is not really necessary by Jewish custom (1), and d) why impose a religious label on an interfaith child without his/her consent? Like what Barak Obama‘s parents did, why not let the interfaith child have an option to decide his or her own religion at age 21+?
Here we have listed Mitzvoth that may have a potential conflict with Hindu belief system or cultural values. The First and Second Commandments state there is only one God and praying to “other” gods is not acceptable. Is LORD Krishna the “other” god? There are about 40 out of 613 commandments on “idol” worship and not praying to Human form of the God; are Hindu Gods being worshipped false gods? There are about 25 out of 613 commandments on sex. Based on Indian culture, you may be uncomfortable discussing sex with a 12 years old girl in public. Further, there are about 80 out of 613 commandments on how to kill and eat animals; that a Hindu may wish to replace with one simple one – Do not eat animals!!
It is ultimately up to an interfaith couple to make an “informed” decision for their interfaith child.
A select mitzvoth relating to Hindus are listed here. Rest of mitzvoth can be viewed at Wikipedia.

Readers, if yours was a Christian-Jew or a Muslim-Jew marriage, would you let your children take the Bar Mitzvah oaths? Why a child cannot have both, Bar Mitzvah and Baptism? Is it fair for a child from a Hindu-Jew marriage with equality to take Bar Mitzvah oaths? Like Barak Obama, should a child be given an option to pick his/her own religion at an adult age? First of all, it does not matter what you do, you cannot be considered a Jew if you are born to a Hindu woman. So before placing your wish list, learn a little. You can dance all you want, it ain’t happening.
Secondly, who told you all hindu’s don’t meat ? Vaishnavites don’t but Shaivaites do. So keep your stupid north indian crap there. This is why hindu’s in Bengal, Orissa,Andhra, Goa, Maharashtra, Tamil and Keral eat meat and fish. They are the real indians. Rest of you are not even Indian’s. You are invaders.
I came here because I was looking topics to see how I can convert to Jainism and one link pointed me here and that was a beautiful person. Whereas you admin, you are a religious bigot. You are spreading hate. This site is not about interfaith or marriage, this is a RSS vehicle for abusing every other religion or views that does not matches you.
Try to be a human first. Then it does not matter which religion you belong to.
