The post reminds me the pain I underwent through while hunting for the true meaning of faith. When I rummaged various scripts I found out that all the faiths carried the same message: God is One, Do Good Reap Good, Be humane and on the negative aspects all the faiths shared caste/ religious apartheid, misogyny, supremacism.
Judaism and Christianity call for death of Apostates, Hinduism differentiates on caste basis, and all three have explicit misogynistic viewpoints. Revolutionaries fought tooth and nail and today, these major faiths have almost purged their scriptures and are adopting only those practices which are in line with modern moral standards.
Now, come to Islam: polygamy, triple talaq, no alimony to divorced wife, halala, peadophilia, four male witnesses to prove rape, a woman’s testimony is only half-valued than that of a male, sex slavery, muta marriage, jizya , one-sided proselytizing and blasphemy rules, death for apostasy and gays, stoning, chopping, flogging ….. all these monstrous practices are fanatically observed by followers, holding the Book. If a reformer questions and calls for reinterpretation of Quran, Muslims have been indoctrinated to axe the revolutionary and the result is the ISLAMIC INFERNO. Neither do we live in peace nor do we allow modern, liberal and just societies to live in peace.
My suggestion is for a period, be a stoic observer and note the difference between various communities; read their original Scriptures and astonishingly you’ll find many things which cannot be applied to today’s life and you’ll be even more surprised to find how followers for all other belief-systems have beautifully amended their practices to suit current moral and humanitarian standards, leaving Islam as a Stone Age era cult.
After a thorough research, whichever Scripture you find offers solace to body, mind and soul, go with that faith, for all paths lead to the same God– only our prayer methodologies are different! –Momeen

Why am I criticizing my own faith?
Muslims- the cursed population which considers all humanity-butchering Islamofascists as ‘messiahs’ while barbarically beheads every reformer. You would have heard reformers being slaughtered in Arab world, Pakistan, Bangladesh…. well, Indian Muslims will prove that Muslim population in any part of the world is a ticking time-bomb: Tarek Fatah, a renowned reformist is taking the Ulema head-on urging Muslims to shun fundamentalism and integrate with the world; his show ‘Fatah ka fatwa’ in Zee tv is a great hit as he knocks hard on the crippling atrocities of Muslims on both Muslims and non-Muslims.
Now, here is the twist: This is India, a pluralistic, benign, peaceful, Hindu-majority democracy; can any Muslim dare to declare beheading or butchering in India?

Biggest irony is Indian government doesn’t think the outrageous fatwa is serious enough for initiating a case against the mullah, who issued the threat- fear of Muslims’ capability to bring down the entire state machinery with their violence!
Do I identify myself as a Muslim?
Yes, because I’m born to Muslim parents, given Islamic upbringing and completely surrounded by Muslims; no because, Muslims do not provide the platform to think freely; cripple reforms; justify monstrosity- this latter part of thinking dominates my mind.

Hindus, Christians, Jews et al have the conducive atmosphere of freethinking; not strangulated when they raise questions and also not killed when they change faiths. Muslims are the most ill-fated to have a cancerous leadership and until the population recognizes the parasitical guidance, there is no end in sight for the Islamic inferno that’s charring the entire world.
India and West don’t need to study on equality of faiths, this study should be conducted by Saudi and the entire Islamic bloc.

Saudi Arabia is only the guardian of the 2 holiest Islamic sites, Mecca and Madina. They are not the leaders of the Muslim world / at this point NOBODY is the leader of the global Muslim community because we have not had that since the Ottoman Empire collapsed in 1923 and Turkey emerged as a secular county from its ashes.
However, Saudi Arabian leadership has invested millions of dollars into exporting their Wahhabi ideology (read on the relationship between imam al-Wahab and the Saudi royal family) and this dangerous ideology is being marketed across many countries now under the guise of “spreading Islam”
We as Muslims- whether Shia or Sunni – do NOT take Saudi and their dangerous sect of literalism to be the truth – there are different organizations in each country that regulate teaching of religion and very few of them follow this Wahhabism.
The link I posted is not about the equality of religion: it’s about free classes where you can learn about different religions because there is too many half-truths out there.
So both things are needed: india and the west definitely need to educate themselves on Islam if they truly want to understand what it I should and the Muslim world needs to overthrow and shun the cancerous group of clerics who hold the religion back and prevent us from learning the true tenets of our faith…

Not surprised to find how a Europe-settled Muslim underestimates the reach of Wahabi cult. The disastrous Wahabi tsunami has already taken over Pakistan, Bangladesh and India. Muslims in general raze to rubble temples, gurudwaras, churches et al but Wahabi Muslims sprint for a Heaven ticket by bombing Sufi shrines, Shia and Ahmedi mosques too. Wahabism is extremely busy in the process of eliminating Sufism and Ahmedi Islam from the entire subcontinent and has been highly successful in its efforts.

To say all non-Muslim nations should learn about Islam connotes that all faiths are equally problematic.
NO.
* Christians, Hindus, and Jews don’t bring down embassies and indulge in brutal violence all over the world when their Gods or Prophets are targeted in movies, articles or cartoons!
*Non-Muslims don’t make a hellhole of their own lands in the name of faith, enter in millions to Islamic nations, beg and scream for asylum while not giving an inch of theirs to others.
*Christians, Hindus, and Jews- once the percentage shoots up don’t begin to demand separate homeland; today Rohingya Muslims’ problem hits the headlines while the mainstream media fails to highlight that the menace began long after the Muslims’ chorus for a separate state knocked Burma. What percentage of Muslim population do Thailand and Philippines have? Even there, Muslims are demanding separate state!
*Non-Muslims don’t settle in Islamic lands, get citizenship, enjoy equal rights, build their worshipping places in large numbers and clamour that only there God is true and their religious law should be implemented.
To equate Islamic inferno with others is equating cancer and common cold. Unless Islamic leadership undertakes sweeping reforms by eradicating all the StoneAge era practices, lets Muslims to live amicably with other faiths and most importantly, Islamic nations open their doors to other religions and let them flourish in their lands- there is no scope for Muslims to become a morally-strong, peaceful and benign community.

You are right, living in Europe has sheltered me and Muslims like me from the cancerous evil that is wahabism but not all sunnis believe in that, even in india/Pakistan I know that no matter what the maulvis may preach, individuals will use their own mind and question. Many will become sheep and follow blindly – but I hope not for too long.

Consider yourself Muslim or not, I understand the latter part of what you wrote above dominates your thinking, but why not be part of the change so many people worldwide are trying to bring? There are Muslims doing great work in india and abroad. Instead of just criticizing the current state of muslim, why not do something about it?
I am trying my best to do what I can in my limited time- hence me writing my book.
But I agree with you on the widespread reach of Wahhabism : I see this trend overtaking not just south Asian countries but also former secular/secular minded Societies with majority Muslim populations. Just don’t forget to include the role of colonialism and foreign interference & projects in having countries that follow “moderate islam” when you mention why Muslims are increasingly becoming the way they are – You may already know who created the Taliban and why, but if you don’t then I strongly encourage you to learn.

But what do some Muslims do instead? You see all too well on tv. Pathetic…
I am amazed that so many Muslims are calling for their separate countries while living in non-Muslim
Nations because Shariah law says to “respect the law of the land you live in” – it surprised me to see a small group of people in the UK asking to implement shariah law in a part of London where they live in majority (they were campaigning for that a few years ago).
I just don’t understand why we as the majority of Muslims cannot see what’s right and what’s wrong. I respect anyone who wants to live under shariah law – it’s their life and their chhoice- but don’t go trying to force this on others, especially when you are born, raised & live in a secular state. Go to shariah run countries if you are so fond of that.
