Bollywood Interfaith Marriages

Bollywood teaches many messages of "equality" in interfaith marriages. One may summarized it as ... Love is more important than love of religious conversion of your loved one. If you know of any additional movie where such a message is given, please describe the scene and overall message from it here.

Namastey London: A message on religious tolerance

Basic message here is not to tolerate the intolerance of others for your birth religion. A Pakistani immigrant Muslim, Imran Khan, was asked to be Baptized as a condition of marriage to Susanne in London. See the videos for excellent explanation and justifications for not submitting to such an intolerance request...view video here. The movie ends with a scene where unmarried Imran and the Christian Susanne move to Karachi, Pakistan. Do you think this Imran Khan will have a Nikaah with Susanne without Shahadah conversion? Will their kids have Baptism, Sunat, both or none? Will Susanne and Imran have an option to proudly take their kids with them to a mosque on Friday and to a church on Sunday in Pakistan? Kareena and Saif: Religion and Marriage

These days, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s romance is a hot subject for Bollywood (now married). Saif’s mother and a very renowned actress Sharmila Tagore converted to Islam for her marriage to Mansoor Ali Khan, changed her name to Begum Ayesha Sultana, gave Muslim names to all their 3 kids and children were raised as Muslims only. Saif's first wife, Amrita Singh, had also the same religious fate, gave Abrahamic names to their kids, and later got talaak (divorce). Considering Islam played a major role in Saif’s upbringing, will Kareena have the similar religious fate as Sharmila and Amrita or will Kareena have the choice to enjoy her interfaith marriage with equality and raise secular children?
