THE STORY

From the laboratory to the living room

Born in Gujarat, India and now settled in America, Dr. Dilip Amin has traveled to more than thirty countries to study diverse cultures and religions. That lifelong curiosity about how people believe — and how they love across those beliefs — became his life's second calling.

By training he is a scientist: a doctorate in Pharmacology, a forty-two-year career as a medical researcher, six patents, and twenty-three scientific publications. He brought that same rigor and evidence-first mindset to a very human question — how do two people from different faiths build a marriage rooted in equality and mutual respect?

“Share and respect, with equality.” It is the principle behind every conversation he has had with more than 1,200 young people in interfaith relationships.

In 2009 he founded InterfaithShaadi.org, a forum where couples, parents and families could ask hard questions and hear honest, practical answers. Over the years he has guided more than twelve hundred youths through the real complexities of interfaith love — conversion pressures, wedding rituals, raising children, and family expectations — documenting what he learned along the way in his books.

Happily married for forty years and the father of two American-born children, Dr. Amin lives the balance he teaches.
